September 11th , Subject: Gallagher

    Ex-Courier columnist Art Gallagher just doesn't get it.
    He doesn't understand that it was his fault and his fault alone that his column was dropped from The Courier. The racist comments on his blog left Jim Purcell no alternative but to sever the relationship.
    So his answer is to take cheap shots on his blog about Jim Purcell, Joe Caliendo and reporter Melissa Gaffney.
    When Purcell first gave Gallagher the opportunity to write a column, I was all for it. I thought that his column would be a nice balance. But he blew it.
    Melissa Gaffney is one of the best reporters to come along in a while, both in The Courier and on her blog. Despite her relative inexperience, she can write with the best of them. She doesn't need" advice" from the likes of Mr. Gallagher.
