September 18th, Subject: Bond, buy, build and bill with no input or vote

In the 1700s the colonists hollered loudly that taxation without representation is tyranny. All of Middletown is shouting the same; only the cry began 26 years ago, is louder now and will become loudest come November 2008.
The present Township Committee less two are the reason for buy it, build it, and many times bond it and bill it to the taxpayer but tell the taxpayer after the fact. No referendum, no the Township Committee knows your needs not you, here are some of their favorite things:
A museum deeded by deception to the county no referendum. A warehouse purchased and rebuilt with taxpayers money while half of Middletown gets no benefit of this, just the bill - no referendum. A study of Shadow Lake to clean growth from it, taxpayers' money was used for the study no referendum. A swim club that through taxpayers money stays open and is a utility; maybe in the winter they bottle the water. A library with expansion and cost overruns and bonding - no referendum. A bridge from Middletown to Red Bank has to be done away with and a new one built; bonding the bridge will give access to a planned marina. At Croydon Hall a field house built before the public even knew, almost spent $1 million on this no referendum. Finally, a long term to squeeze your wallet and bank account, if you still have one.
It could be coming soon: a mini Giants Stadium with lights and all the goodies that go with it, finishing with an indoor Olympic swimming pool at our expense.
The United States of America is of the people by the people and for the people. Lest we forget taxation without representation is tyranny and each committee person is answerable to we the people. There is no exclusive club.
Remember you were elected to serve all of the people.
