October 23rd, 2008, Subject:  Time for change

I believe the voters in Monmouth County should take special notice of their Freeholder candidates this year. On the Democratic ticket is Amy Mallet, a local businesswoman, and Glenn Mason, a recently retired detective with 25 years of service with the Hazlet Police Department.
The Board of Chosen Freeholders has been controlled by the Republican majority for 20 or more years. During that time, county workers have been indicted, convicted and some are presently serving time in prison for their illegal activities. Your taxes have risen more than 75 percent during their tenure and the current budget is just under half a billion dollars.
It's time for a change; Glenn Mason brings 25 years of experience to keep a watchful eye on what's going on in the county government. Glenn also brings more than eight years of experience on the Hazlet Board of Education another indication of his involvement in government and community.
If you've had enough with the illegal and corrupt behavior in our county government, cast your vote Nov. 4 for Glenn Mason, retired police officer, and Amy Mallet who will both serve as watchful eyes.
